Hello everyone, I have a question that has been on my mind for a while: What combinations and interior design ideas are there using the Ikea Brimnes system together with other Ikea furniture?

I am specifically looking for tips on how to combine Brimnes elements such as beds, wardrobes, and dressers functionally and stylistically with other Ikea series to create a harmonious overall look. I am interested in both practical aspects (e.g., storage optimization, color schemes, dimensions) and aesthetic combination possibilities.

Does anyone have experience with which other Ikea furniture works particularly well with Brimnes, or where there might be issues when combining them? Maybe also ideas on how to cleverly mix different series without making the furniture ensemble look chaotic?

I would also be interested in examples of how to furnish small spaces as effectively as possible using Brimnes and complementary Ikea systems. Thanks in advance for your answers!

Brimnes pairs well with the Hemnes series, as both have a classic and simple design. For bedroom storage, I recommend the Brimnes bed combined with Hemnes dressers.

Additionally, Lack tables work well as side tables.

Basically, the Brimnes system features a rather clean, angular design and a modern look that pairs well with certain Ikea series, but it’s important to pay attention to the details.

For example, I recommend complementing Brimnes beds with the Kallax series or Vittsjo shelves to create additional open storage and surface space in the room. This works particularly well because both series have a minimalist appearance.

Regarding color options, it’s advisable to either go with all white or white with black accents, as Brimnes furniture often comes with a white painted finish and black handles.

One potential issue is the height of the individual furniture pieces: the Brimnes bed has a relatively low base, while some dressers from other series are taller. Therefore, it’s important to check the measurements carefully beforehand.

My question for you: What type of room are you planning this setup for (bedroom, youth room, guest area)? This will help with more specific recommendations.

Thank you for asking. It will mainly be used for a small bedroom where storage space is very limited. The combination should therefore primarily save space without feeling cramped. A light, not too bulky overall appearance would be ideal.

Hello, for small bedrooms, combining Brimnes beds with the matching dressers and wardrobe is very practical since everything is well coordinated.

A tip: Use the Brimnes bed with built-in storage, which can include drawers for bedding or clothing and helps to optimize space.

You can also nicely complement it with items like the Ikea Malm nightstand. Since Malm and Brimnes have a similar style, the overall look does not feel cluttered even with some distance between pieces.

If you find the Brimnes style too angular, textiles and decorations in warm colors can help make the room feel cozier.

If you like, I can provide more precise measurements and suggestions for specific combination ideas.

In my opinion, when mixing Ikea furniture, it’s important to critically consider the functional added value. Brimnes offers plenty of storage but has a very formal design style, which can quickly create a visually cluttered look when combined with some other series.

You should question whether it really makes sense to mix Brimnes with other Ikea lines or if it might be better to focus the design more on a uniform system.

This doesn’t free you from carefully checking measurements and proportions. Especially the combination with bulkier series like Hemnes can vary—visually it’s acceptable, but in small rooms it might feel too heavy.

How important is design consistency to you compared to maximizing practical storage space?
