Now we need to decide on a stair covering. Initially, I thought of tiles, but they have grout lines that will eventually get dirty. The builder suggested granite, but that is probably more expensive. Does anyone know the typical price range? Are there any recommended resources for this?

We received two price quotes: one supplier asked for 3,000 net just for the materials (half turn, 15 steps). The supplier we chose offers the entire job for 3,000 net including labor. He was also hired for additional natural stone work (entrance, window sills, etc.).
Visit a large building supply store to see what you like—wood, tiles, and so on.
