Hello everyone,

I am currently looking into wall mounting options for the IKEA Platsa system and wanted to ask the community: What types of brackets and wall mounting solutions are available specifically for the IKEA Platsa system?

I’m interested in knowing which original as well as alternative fasteners are suitable to secure the modules safely and firmly to the wall. Are there any specially designed brackets from IKEA itself, or are there third-party options?

Additionally, I’m curious if there are any special considerations during installation, for example related to the construction of the Platsa units or different wall types (drywall, concrete, etc.). Perhaps someone has experience or tips on how to ensure a safe and durable mounting.

Thanks in advance for your advice!

If the wall is made of drywall, the IKEA brackets alone are not enough. You definitely need cavity anchors that are rated for the load (e.g., toggle bolts or expansion anchors). The hardware isn’t expensive but is worth it. For multiple units: Yes, IKEA also offers connectors that join modules horizontally and vertically to increase stability.

I always think it’s a bit exaggerated what IKEA sells as "special brackets." My advice: use strong, universal metal brackets and appropriate heavy-duty anchors, whether you have a concrete ceiling or a drywall – that will hold Platsa without any problem.

Sure, the connectors help, but honestly – the right screws and anchors in the wall are what really matter. Brackets alone can’t work miracles.

Hello kenneo,

I’d like to add a few tips regarding wall mounting for Platsa:

1. Original IKEA brackets: These are perfectly matched to the module and ensure secure fixing. For drywall or hollow walls, always use suitable hollow wall anchors.

2. Connectors: As mentioned before, the Platsa modules can be joined horizontally and vertically using connection clips, which greatly improves stability, especially when stacking multiple units.

3. Alternative brackets: For heavy or wide combinations, you can also use sturdy metal brackets (e.g., L-brackets) to better distribute the load.

4. Installation tips:
- Check the load-bearing capacity of the wall.
- Use a spirit level for precise alignment.
- Always drill pilot holes and use the appropriate anchors.

Summary: Using the combination of IKEA brackets, suitable anchors for your wall type, and additional connection clips ensures the safest installation possible!

I hope this helps clarify things for you.
