Hello everyone,
I am currently planning the installation of the Ikea Metod kickboards in my new kitchen. I have a question about any specific installation tips for these kickboards to ensure a clean, stable, and visually appealing result. I have already seen the Ikea instructions but would like to benefit from your experiences. Are there any tricks regarding pre-drilling, alignment, or handling corners and uneven walls?
I want to avoid the kickboards wobbling or coming loose later on, and I find the installation a bit tricky, especially since the Metod system consists of modular elements. Does anyone have tips on cutting, fastening with clips or screws, or advice on which tools are particularly useful?
Thanks in advance for your advice!

Preparation: Check and ensure the installation surface is level. Compensate for any unevenness by filling or shimming.Proper preparation is indeed crucial, and many underestimate this when installing Ikea Metod baseboards.
Additionally, I want to emphasize the importance of selecting the correct clip size: there are different types depending on the height of the baseboards. Also, make sure the clips fit securely, as clips that are too loose can cause wobbling later on.
It’s also worthwhile to loosely assemble the baseboards before the final installation to check for proper fit and miter cuts. This helps avoid unpleasant surprises when screwing them in.
Finally, keep in mind that when mounting onto different substrates (e.g., drywall versus solid wall), appropriate anchors should be chosen to ensure a long-lasting hold.
