I am planning to assemble my IKEA Metod kitchen myself soon and wanted to ask for assembly tips in this forum that primarily make the process quick and safe. What should I pay attention to during the preparation? Are there any tools or techniques you highly recommend to reduce working time while ensuring the stability of the cabinets? I am also interested in your methods for mounting the cabinets to the wall, as secure fastening is very important to me. I would appreciate detailed advice and personal experiences that go beyond the standard instructions.

Great that you’re tackling this yourself – assembly can really be enjoyable if you stick to the basics! A first tip: spread everything out on a large, clean floor so you don’t lose any screws and have everything within reach. 😎

Then stay relaxed and don’t force anything if a part doesn’t fit right away – it’s better to double-check if you’ve swapped something by mistake. For wall mounting, I always use a spirit level and a good drill with a hammer function to ensure everything is secure. Also, a cordless screwdriver is a huge help and can save you a lot of time.

Oh, and the most important thing: don’t forget the coffee!

Prepare tools: cordless screwdriver, spirit level, drill.
Before installation: check the positioning of the wall anchors.
Assemble cabinets individually, then secure them to the wall.

Preparation is truly essential. I recommend measuring the space precisely beforehand and identifying the wall type – drywall, concrete, or brick all require different fixing methods. For Metod kitchens, I strongly suggest using the included mounting kit, as it is specifically designed for that construction.

I also found it helpful to fully prepare the cabinets while they are lying down, assembling the bottoms, side panels, and back panels before attaching them to the wall. This prevents unnecessary stress and errors during the later wall installation.

When mounting to the wall, be sure to use anchors that are strong enough. For drywall, for example, use special hollow wall anchors that distribute the weight effectively.

Anyone who has ever assembled a kitchen knows how frustrating it can be when a cabinet door doesn’t close properly or the cabinet wobbles. I clearly remember standing in front of the pile of parts for the first time, wondering how it could ever fit together.

That’s why I recommend with Metod: be patient and take your time with the alignment. Especially when mounting to the wall, don’t rush. It’s better to double-check everything and sometimes use a helper.

I can only emphasize this. Getting a second opinion if you’re unsure definitely makes sense.

Always assemble cabinets side by side first, then hang them together on the wall.
Check drill holes before marking to avoid mistakes.
