Hello everyone,

I am currently planning the installation of my Ikea Metod kitchen and wondering about common potential issues that can arise during the process and how to best avoid them. Since it is a modular system, I have read that problems often occur during measuring and leveling, which can ultimately affect the functionality or the overall appearance of the kitchen.

Specifically, I am interested in:
- What are typical pitfalls during installation (e.g., assembling cabinets, fronts, countertops)?
- Are there frequent mistakes in the preparation phase, such as inaccurate leveling or incorrect fixing points?
- How can misalignments be prevented that later cause problems with closing doors or drawers?

I would appreciate any experience-based advice, practical tips, or recommendations on tools and procedures that help achieve a clean and functional result. Thanks in advance!

In addition to the points already mentioned, I recommend the following procedures:

- Before starting installation, check that all parts are complete and undamaged. Defective drill holes or bent components can occasionally occur and may cause serious problems later.

- Use high-quality anchors suitable for the wall material when securing cabinets to the wall (e.g., heavy-duty anchors for concrete).

- For the countertop: the cut edges must be carefully sealed to prevent moisture from entering the material, which avoids swelling over time.

These measures significantly increase the durability of the kitchen.

One thing I seriously underestimated was the correct procedure for the drawers – often the runners were not aligned properly and the drawers would stick.

I completely agree. Aligning the drawer slides requires patience. A tip: first install both slides and tighten the screws only by hand, so you can adjust them precisely to the millimeter. Then fully tighten the screws, but be careful not to overtighten.

Furthermore, I recommend carefully checking the assembly instructions for any warning symbols – important information is often hidden there that can easily be overlooked.

Regarding screw quality: Ikea screws are adequate, but if possible, use slightly higher-quality screws, especially for securing the countertops.
