Hello everyone, I am considering buying some furniture from the IKEA Brimnes series, especially beds with storage and dressers for the bedroom. Since I value long-lasting quality and plan to use the furniture intensively, my question is: What are your specific experiences with Brimnes furniture in long-term use over months or years? I am particularly interested in how durable the material is in everyday use, how stable the construction remains, and whether there are any typical weaknesses in the craftsmanship or fittings that buyers should be aware of before purchasing. Any tips on care and maintenance would also be appreciated. Thanks in advance!

I have been using the Brimnes bed with storage for 3 years. The quality is acceptable for the price, but you need to tighten the screws every few months. Otherwise, no issues.

Hello lichen55, to answer your question in more detail, I would like to share my experience with Brimnes dressers and beds. I have owned the Brimnes bed, including the under-bed drawers, for almost 4 years. Assembly is really important at the start: all parts need to be precisely aligned and screwed together, otherwise the stability will suffer over time. The construction uses particleboard with a laminate finish, and after about 2 years the surface shows slight signs of wear, especially in frequently touched areas.

Regarding load capacity, the bed easily supports the weight of two adults with some margin. The drawer slides are made of metal but do not operate as smoothly as those on more expensive furniture. I find the included dowels and screws particularly critical – they tend to break under heavy or uneven loads, so I always reinforce them with an additional screw set. For maintenance, I recommend avoiding aggressive cleaning agents, as they can damage the laminate. A slightly damp cloth is sufficient. If you use the storage space intensively, regularly check the drawer slides to ensure they are securely fitted.

Overall, I would rate Brimnes as an affordable solution, but one that definitely requires some personal effort and care. If you plan to use your furniture for many years, it might be worth comparing it with higher-quality systems.

I love my Brimnes bed! 😍 It's been in great shape for 2 years, and I’ve used it intensively every day. I find the storage space very practical. Sure, the surface isn’t perfect, but that hardly bothers me. Really great value for the price!

I have had a Brimnes dresser for 5 years. No major damage, only the handles occasionally become loose. Otherwise, it is stable enough for everyday use.

Thank you for the detailed information! How would you assess the repair options if, for example, the foil peels off or gets damaged at a corner? Is it easy to fix these issues yourself, or are the surfaces too delicate? Also, are there any special considerations I should keep in mind regarding the drawers? Do you actually use the storage space under the bed often, and does it hold up well?
