What are the exact dimensions of the individual Ikea Brimnes furniture pieces? I am currently planning my interior and unfortunately cannot always find all the precise measurements for the Brimnes models in the catalog. I am especially interested in details about the individual cabinets, beds, dressers, and shelves in the series. It would be helpful if someone could list the dimensions of the respective furniture items, possibly also with notes on variations or differences between models. This way, I can better estimate what fits in my space and whether larger or smaller units would be more suitable.

Hello fardenny,

I’m happy to help and provide you with an overview of the dimensions for the most common Brimnes furniture pieces, based on my research and experience.

- Brimnes bed 140x200 cm: approx. 209x146x81 cm (LxWxH) (82x57x32 inches)
- Brimnes bed 160x200 cm: approx. 209x167x81 cm (LxWxH) (82x66x32 inches)
- Brimnes wardrobe 2 doors: 78x100x197 cm (31x39x78 inches)
- Brimnes wardrobe 3 doors: 153x100x197 cm (60x39x78 inches)
- Brimnes chest of drawers 3 drawers: 78x100x98 cm (31x39x39 inches)
- Brimnes chest of drawers 6 drawers: 158x100x98 cm (62x39x39 inches)
- Brimnes TV stand with feet: 192x40x48 cm (76x16x19 inches)

A common mistake is focusing only on the sleeping surface and overlooking the overall height or storage space. Also, the depth varies between beds and wardrobes — something not to underestimate in narrow rooms.

If you need details on specific versions or dimensions for other furniture items, just let me know.

I completely agree, yet unfortunately Ikea does not provide consistent information, which is confusing with the Brimnes series. It would be interesting to know if the measurements are always exactly the same or if there are regional variations.

Does anyone know if the depth varies between different beds and wardrobes within the series? Because the width difference from 146 cm (57 inches) for the 140x200 bed to 167 cm (66 inches) for the 160x200 bed is quite significant in terms of space requirements and can also affect door and drawer clearance.

Also, I wonder if the listed heights for the dresser are with or without handles. Such details could potentially impact the planning as well.

Additional information:
The dimensions of the Brimnes series are standardized as follows:
- Beds: The widths include the frame, meaning the sleeping surface plus the frame. The height (approximately 81 cm (32 inches)) includes the bed frame with the storage function.
- Wardrobes: The depth for most models is consistently around 50 cm (20 inches), providing sufficient storage space for a wardrobe.
- Dressers: Heights and widths vary depending on the number of drawers, as mentioned.

Regarding doors and handles: The height is measured without handles, which often protrude 1–2 cm (0.4–0.8 inches). For accurate space planning, it is better to allow some extra room.

Conclusion: Always add 5 cm (2 inches) to the measured dimensions for handles and clearance space, especially in narrow hallways or small rooms.

Thanks for sharing, that’s important. In my small bedroom, I actually already had issues with insufficient clearance in front of the dresser.

Another experience: Brimnes beds offer a lot of storage with their built-in drawers, but if you place the bed in an alcove, you should also consider the drawer opening, which requires about 40 cm (16 inches) of space in front of the bed.

A small tip for anyone still unsure: Measure your room carefully and check whether doors and drawers can be fully opened without obstruction.
