FloduHello everyone, I am planning to get a piece of furniture from the IKEA Brimnes series, but I am a bit uncertain about the exact differences between the various options in this series.
I am mainly interested in how the individual Brimnes dressers, beds, and cabinets differ in terms of size, layout, materials, and available additional features such as drawers, doors, or shelves.
Does anyone know the details to help me make a more informed decision? For example, differences between the Brimnes beds with and without storage boxes, or differences in the dresser regarding the number of drawers or storage capacity, and so on.
Are there also variations in the material quality or color options?
I appreciate any helpful and as detailed as possible responses!

The Brimnes series mainly differs in features: beds with or without storage, dressers with varying numbers of drawers, and different wardrobe sizes. All items are made of MDF coated with foil, usually in white. The beds include versions with a storage box that provides extra space.
Hey, I recently got the Brimnes bed with storage and I’m really impressed by the extra storage option – super practical if you don’t have much space.
A quick tip: The dressers are great if you like different drawer sizes – some have wide drawers for larger items, others are narrower for smaller things.
And yes, the surfaces feel quite sturdy, especially if you pay attention to the white laminate finish. A white piece of furniture like that also adds a lot of brightness to the room! 😄

I felt the same way – I was unsure whether to choose the Brimnes bed without or with storage. Although the open space under the bed is well ventilated, I ultimately missed having a proper way to store things, so I decided to go with the model that has a storage compartment.
What I’m also curious about: Is there a big difference in material quality, or is it all pretty much the same? Occasionally, you hear that IKEA series sometimes have variations in later production runs.

What I'm also curious about: Is there a big difference in material quality, or is it all pretty much the same? This is an important point. As far as I know, IKEA mainly uses particleboard and MDF with a laminated surface for Brimnes, which is fairly consistent across all versions. Larger differences in quality tend to occur with individual components like drawer slides or fittings—there can be variations in durability depending on the production period.
I also find it interesting to question whether the different functionalities can really be justified by small differences in material thickness. Does anyone have first-hand experience with this?
