Hello everyone,

I am currently trying to optimize the assembly of my Malm furniture and keep running into difficulties. I am interested in knowing what the most common mistakes are when assembling Malm furniture in general. Especially during the installation, it can sometimes be challenging to keep track, particularly when multiple components need to be connected.

Could you share your experiences on where the typical stumbling blocks usually are? For example, whether the instructions are often misunderstood, screws are inserted incorrectly, or parts are not aligned properly.

Thank you in advance for your tips!

Oh, assembling the Malm can really be tricky, but don’t worry, we’ll manage it! :-) A common mistake is definitely not preparing the parts properly. I often see screws and dowels taken straight out of the package and used immediately without sorting them first. This often leads to confusion and incorrect assembly.

Also, many underestimate the importance of following the correct sequence during assembly. If you tighten certain parts too early, it can make later steps much harder. My advice: lay out all the parts completely and read the instructions carefully before you start!

And last but not least: pay close attention to the correct orientation of the panels, otherwise nothing will fit together in the end ☺️!

That’s true, preparation is key. It’s also important to follow the instructions carefully, as Malm furniture is often designed to fit very precisely. Another common mistake is incorrect alignment of screws and wooden dowels. If these are not inserted exactly perpendicular or in the wrong place, the entire piece can become misaligned.

I can only agree with that. Rushing to tighten the screws is also problematic. In some cases, screws should be inserted loosely at first and then fully tightened at the end to allow some play for adjustments. Additionally, connection elements are often over-tightened, which can damage the material.

Anyone who values quality and stability should take their time with these aspects.

When assembling Malm furniture, I often notice that people underestimate how important a calm and relaxed approach is. 😌 When you rush, mistakes happen more quickly—screws go in the wrong way, parts are assembled incorrectly, or you might miss small but crucial details in the instructions.

What I always recommend is preparing your workspace well, having enough room, and ideally assembling with someone else. A second pair of eyes can often catch things you might overlook.

Even a small mishap, like swapping the side panels, can lead to major frustration later on. And hey, if you get stuck, just take a moment to breathe—putting furniture together should be enjoyable! 😉

How do you handle it—do you always stay calm, or do you also experience hectic moments when assembling Malm?
