Hello everyone, my question concerns the Ikea Besta system. I have noticed that some spare parts I urgently need are currently unavailable—either due to supply issues or because they are no longer being produced. My question to the community is: What alternatives are there if spare parts for Ikea Besta are not available? I am thinking of possible third-party replacement parts, custom-made components, or adjustments using creative solutions. It is important to me that the alternatives are easy to implement and that the furniture remains stable and functional afterward. Thank you in advance for your tips and experiences.

Step 4: Consider 3D printing if the parts are plastic.

That’s a great idea! 3D printing can open up really cool possibilities, especially when original parts are no longer available. You just have to make sure the material is strong enough—otherwise, the shelf might suddenly become a falling object 😅.

From my experience, there are communities where you can find ready-to-print files for Ikea parts. For those who don’t own a printer, there are services that do it at a fair price. This kind of thing really makes repairing fun!

That is correct. However, one should not rely solely on 3D printing. The load-bearing capacity of printed parts is often significantly lower than that of the original components. The risk is higher for structural elements.

I recommend the following approach:

- Use 3D printing as a good alternative for purely aesthetic and lightweight functional parts.
- For load-bearing or moving parts, strictly use proven standard components or professionally manufactured replacements.

This way, safety and functionality are prioritized.
