Yesterday we had a thaw and around the base of the house there were occasional damp spots in the plinth area. These disappeared within about 6 hours.
Specifically in this area, there had apparently been a slight moisture issue on the inside of the wall in this corner of the room, since we found fine efflorescence and the corner of the wall is slightly discolored. I measured yesterday with a “Testo” device and the reading for lime mortar gypsum was between 0.6 and 0.8%.
Could this be caused by humidity in the air and subsequent frost, which then “releases” during the thaw?
