Hello everyone,
We are currently trying to decide whether to choose a Weishaupt LS 8 air-to-water heat pump as a split unit or to go with a Kermi x-change dynamic ac 8 AW E monoblock instead.
The Kermi is said to be more efficient and can also use solar power "intelligently," but it comes with an extra cost of nearly 5,000. It’s clear that I won’t recover that 5,000 through more efficient operation alone, but maybe the maintenance costs are lower, the air-to-water heat pump is quieter, and so on.
Which option would you lean towards and why? What do you see as the pros and cons of these two units?
Thanks and best regards,
M. Gerd

I don’t know how Kermi compares in price to Zehnder, as we haven’t received an offer yet. My heating installer suggested contacting the field service representative to see if there’s any possibility of a discount if we buy both units from Kermi. The entire underfloor heating system, including the pipes, will also be installed by Kermi. Hopefully, something can be arranged because we would really prefer Kermi, mainly due to the noise level. We are somewhat concerned that the split system might be noisy.
How is it exactly? I understand that the split system is supposed to be relatively loud, but does that only apply to the outdoor unit, or the indoor unit as well?
We are located near Frankfurt am Main, specifically north of Hanau.

I’m located not far from the Kermi headquarters, and the IDM would have cost me almost the same as Kermi. I didn’t consider anything else because I value quality and also a bit of the design. I also visited the heat pump directly at Kermi’s factory.
Why would the pipe freeze in winter? We installed a district heating pipe here, and the connections are insulated again, then covered with this aluminum cap. So nothing should freeze. I also bought the X-Center Base and the Kermi actuators/room thermostats. Plus the Kermi central ventilation system, so everything is integrated into one system.
I can’t say yet how maintenance-intensive Kermi is, since it has only been running for 3 weeks…
Hopefully, I’ll finally get my meters soon, so the photovoltaic system can be connected to the grid…M. Gerd schrieb:

M.G.Hello everyone,
After about 6 years, are you satisfied with your systems? My heating contractor recommended a ventilation system from Kermi. I personally tend to prefer Zehnder. I would appreciate your feedback.
