We are slowly planning to replace our old bed because it is no longer comfortable to sleep in. We have already read a lot about the advantages of waterbeds and box spring beds. We have looked at several options but are interested in hearing about personal experiences from owners of these types of beds.

Mainly because we are concerned about the ongoing costs and maintenance involved with waterbeds. @Dindin: There are many options available where you can purchase beds without a headboard. We have now chosen the Geneva bed as our favorite. Does anyone know this shop and have any experience with it? We especially liked this model because it includes extra spring suspension and a good mattress.

In the meantime, I also received a message from one of our clients offering a refurbished waterbed at a very reasonable price.

The structural engineer is against a waterbed? How can it be that a ceiling can’t support a waterbed? With dimensions of 200x220cm (79x87 inches), it holds about 600-800 liters (160-210 gallons), which means, for example, a washing machine or a refrigerator applies a higher point load on the ceiling than the waterbed (although the waterbed has a much greater overall weight).
We could have even set one up in an old building (a multi-family tenement from the turn of the century with a wooden beam ceiling).
