We are slowly planning to replace our old bed because it is no longer comfortable to sleep in. We have already read a lot about the advantages of waterbeds and box spring beds. We have looked at several options but are interested in hearing about personal experiences from owners of these types of beds.

Did I say that?
Yes, you did, because you focused on my price, which was explicitly meant for a box spring bed. The box spring bed comes only as a complete unit from one manufacturer, and I cannot buy individual minor components (for example, the base frame) cheaply. I know someone who bought a $1,000 box spring bed and threw it away after one week. Comparing single beds made from various components to a large double box spring bed strongly reminds me of trolling. I get the impression that some here just feel the need to argue, even though I often just want to offer the person asking the question alternative options.C

3,000 euros??? Either I have junk and my body just doesn’t notice it, or I’m just lucky:
- Bed from Ikea 230 euros
- Slatted frames, adjustable, etc.: 120 euros each
- Mattress: 7-zone, cold foam: 300 euros each
- Mattress protector: 15 euros each
That totals 1,100 euros... it doesn’t always have to be the most expensive option, as is often suggested. Apparently, I wasn’t clear enough. The 3,000 euros refer to bed systems like box spring beds, water beds, gel beds, and to the bed size we chose of 200x220 cm (which is usually already considered extra long).
That’s why I also said you can save money by choosing a “classic system” (slatted frame + mattress).
Hope this makes it clearer now.

Frames in 200 x 220 cm (79 x 87 inches) start at around 1,000 € (about 1,100 USD), at least the ones that look decent, although appearance should of course come after comfort.
Otherwise, my research has shown that there are definitely affordable, high-quality foam or pocket spring mattresses that can match the comfort of a waterbed in every way.
Example: The "Antikartellmatratze." Just google it, as linking is not allowed.

Sebastian7923 Jun 2016 06:04It's just a standard size – and the frame doesn’t affect sleeping comfort at all.
Whether it looks good is, of course, a matter of personal taste – we like our white-stained Hemnes.
