We are slowly planning to replace our old bed because it is no longer comfortable to sleep in. We have already read a lot about the advantages of waterbeds and box spring beds. We have looked at several options but are interested in hearing about personal experiences from owners of these types of beds.

Waterbeds are great. However, I can only compare them to regular beds. I have never owned a box spring bed.

I believe everyone has their own personal preference. This applies to the firmness levels of cold foam mattresses, as well as to spring mattresses, soft toppers for box spring beds, and waterbeds.

It seems you won’t be able to avoid trying them out yourself.

Waterbeds have the advantage of keeping the spine properly aligned, which doesn’t work the same way with all other types of beds. The waterbed can also be precisely adjusted to the sleeper’s weight.
Cold feet in bed are a thing of the past because the waterbed is always warm. And don’t forget about hygiene — you won’t get any other bed type as clean as a waterbed (which is interesting for allergy sufferers).
We have been sleeping on a waterbed for 10 years and have felt much more rested ever since (we don’t toss and turn as much anymore), so we can strongly recommend it.
The downside is that you can’t really test it properly, since sleeping on a waterbed just once will probably cause back pain (due to the high level of relaxation of the back).
However, anyone who doesn’t like the “wobbly” feeling will never enjoy it.

Addition: I don’t really find waterbeds suitable for stomach sleepers either. Unless you choose the very expensive ones, which have a very, very high level of stabilization.

We are also looking for a box spring bed. But they are incredibly expensive. So far, we haven’t found exactly what we wanted. Except for one option, but the bed costs €3500, which is simply too expensive.
