PeterKHello
We are planning to install a water-bearing fireplace in our new build.
It will be connected to our heating system.
What are your opinions / experiences regarding whether this is really effective?
What size of water tank would be appropriate?
We are building a KfW70 house, including underfloor heating.

Hey!
So, first of all, you have to be aware that a fireplace always produces some dirt and soot, but a wood-burning fireplace connected to the heating system is probably the best option. Gas goes in, wood comes out, and off you go :-))
I actually know two people in my close circle of friends who have one. One has a newly built house, the other renovated an old one. It really pays off with high heating demand. If you can get firewood easily, it’s just great. How many square meters do you have? I can ask them about the size of their thermal storage tanks.
P.S. I’ll be completely renovating my grandma’s house this year, and that’s definitely going in there.
Best regards,
drako
