Hello everyone,

We have been living in our newly built house for a little over six months. Today, when I went up to the attic, a wasp was looking at me. I was a bit shocked, and probably the wasp was too. Now I am wondering: Is the roof not sealed properly? Or is it normal to have openings that allow wasps to fly in? It is a cold roof, constructed in a way that the wooden beams of the roof structure are visible.

Thank you very much for your input

Are ventilation grilles installed at the eaves?

No. The edge of the eaves is covered with a wooden board.

The ridge should be left open or fitted with a vent for ventilation purposes. Wasps can easily enter through it. This is not a construction defect; it is simply a cold roof.

Butt joints in masonry are also commonly used

Thank you for the answers. Is there any way I can make it uncomfortable for the wasps to build a nest there?
