My Bosch Logixx 6 washing machine just stopped working with error code 08. That's all I needed! Does anyone happen to know what this error means? Online, it says something like "No signal from the motor tachogenerator." If it's a motor failure, is it worth calling a technician, or should I just buy a new one? 🙁
I think resistance to the constant obsession with consumption and renewal increases with age.
We could start a competition to see who here is still using the oldest mobile phone model (not just storing it). I’ll start with the Samsung Star II from 2011, the year it was released. 😳

The problem is that if someone brings a longer-lasting product to the market, which also costs more, it will likely be rejected by customers. For many, the initial purchase price is the decisive factor, not the price in relation to the expected lifespan. Being cheap is considered cool!
I see it a bit differently. I believe that as people get older, they tend to prioritize quality more. Not because their mindset changes, but because they have more financial resources and tend to settle down.
Why invest in a good dishwasher for a cheap rental apartment when you’re still paying back student loans and you don’t even know where your early career will take you?
Later on, there’s more money available, and a Tupperware container that doesn’t dry properly becomes annoying. So, a better dishwasher is bought.
I think genuine brand products also last a long time. No one buys a washing machine for 1500€ (about $1600) if it breaks down after three years.

I think kaho katja is not entirely wrong. It has something to do with age. You become less materialistic. Our TV from 2010 was expensive back then, over a thousand, and in 2010 it had excellent picture quality, great sound, and a good size. Its sound is still excellent today, the picture quality is poor by current standards, the size is small, and it can’t connect to the internet at all. So some younger people would probably wish for that annoying thing to finally break down. We older ones, on the other hand, don’t long for a 4K picture as much, don’t need internet on the TV, and already find a 40-inch (about 102 cm) screen quite large. And we appreciate that it keeps working and working.
That said, I want to add a caveat. In 2010, it replaced a Sony Trinitron CRT TV, which then moved to the guest room. The Sony just wouldn’t break; it’s still working today. But it really deserved to be replaced. Only in the guest room, when I want to watch something she doesn’t, it’s still enough. Somehow it doesn’t show its 17 years of use. Karsten
