My Bosch Logixx 6 washing machine just stopped working with error code 08. That's all I needed! Does anyone happen to know what this error means? Online, it says something like "No signal from the motor tachogenerator." If it's a motor failure, is it worth calling a technician, or should I just buy a new one? 🙁
Yes, as I get older, I also tend to look for something more durable to buy. Maybe because I’m willing to spend a bit more. Ten years ago, when my washing machine broke, I had to quickly get the cheapest replacement possible – but if my Miele machine broke today, I would either try to have it repaired or look for one that could last longer. I’m willing to pay a few hundred more for that. Honestly, I’m just too lazy to haul the machine in and out of the house every few years, look for a new one, buy it, wait for delivery, or carry and connect it myself... No, I’m too comfortable for that! Although my current Miele washer is already several years old – I think I’ll just go grab a piece of wood ^^
My mother-in-law’s Miele washing machine is already over 20 years old, just like the dryer from the same brand. Sure, new machines would be more energy-efficient – but first, you’d have to invest a few hundred, then wait many years for that to pay off, and dispose of fully functional machines? Plus, the new ones need to be manufactured in the first place. That wouldn’t make sense.
The only thing I don’t want from her is the old chest freezer. She thinks it would be perfect for us – but on the one hand, we already have a freezer cabinet, on the other hand, that chest is definitely over 25 years old and lastly, it’s huge. I don’t want to lug that anywhere.
