My Bosch Logixx 6 washing machine just stopped working with error code 08. That's all I needed! Does anyone happen to know what this error means? Online, it says something like "No signal from the motor tachogenerator." If it's a motor failure, is it worth calling a technician, or should I just buy a new one? 🙁

It is not an engine failure. A sensor is malfunctioning. I would try to repair it.

Are you sure? How do you know that?

Intuition.
No, an electric motor hardly ever breaks down. What usually fails are the brushes, which are cheap wear parts. But the tachogenerator is supposed to give the electronics an impulse. Let’s say you set a spin cycle at 800 revolutions per minute because otherwise your blouses get too wrinkled. Now, this needs to be monitored to make sure the motor doesn’t speed up to 1400, which it can do... I suspect your issue lies somewhere in this area.

Unplug the power cord for 1 minute.
Plug it back in.
Turn off the machine (if it is on).
Close the drum.
Turn the program selector clockwise to the 6 o’clock position.
Press and hold the spin speed button.
Turn the program selector one step further to the 7 o’clock position.
Release the spin speed button.
The last error will appear/blink on the display.
Turn the program selector to the 8 o’clock position and wait a moment.
Then turn the device off.
It is possible that the electronics have frozen, so performing this reset may help.

The machine has not frozen. It responds to all commands. However, it does not wash.
