VolvoDriver4 Nov 2011 18:02Hello everyone,
I am a trained painter and varnisher and had to work with primer today. Since I didn’t have an old brush available, I had to use a good one of mine, and well, I just tried cleaning it with nitrous thinner, but it doesn’t dissolve at all. Is there a way to clean it? Because if nitrous thinner doesn’t work, that’s a bit strange. I mean, okay, I had to dilute the primer with spirits, but unfortunately, I don’t have any at home right now to try cleaning it with (if that even works).
If anyone knows something, please let me know 😉
Best regards

Bauexperte4 Nov 2011 18:54Hello,
The components of denatured alcohol are: ethanol > 85% and mostly propane < 15%.
Ethanol is primarily known as drinking alcohol, classified as a component in beverages (e.g., wine, beer, liqueur). However, ethanol is also used in bioethanol (fuel).
So you have two options: either you have some cheap low-quality alcohol stored somewhere in the house and use that, or you go to the gas station 😀
Best regards

VolvoDriver4 Nov 2011 20:49Is it true that you can clean a brush with beer or wine? Or is that just a bad joke :p I’ve already had the brush covered in nitro for a few hours, but I guess that won’t help 😉
Best regards

Regards It certainly works if you are painting with water-based paints, since the solvent is water-based. However, the person who gave that advice was probably a bit too enthusiastic with the solvent.

So what do you use for this? Even my boss didn’t know.
A coworker mentioned something about a special thinner. Or is that nonsense too?
