Shortly after our house was inspected and the final payment made, we received the attached warning and information letter. We have taken the indicated precautions into account. My question here is basically to ask whether it is normal for such systems to still be installed in new houses. As a layperson, I would have assumed that new buildings are equipped with the newest and best systems, and that warnings about certain installed components would not be necessary so soon after completion.

What are your opinions, information, and experiences regarding this?

It does raise some suspicion when something like this is suddenly added right after the final inspection...

Thank you for your interest, but to avoid any legal issues, I prefer not to disclose who the letter came from. However, it was not from the house manufacturer, who, as I was informed, is not responsible for this. In our building contract, we have committed in writing to carry out certain maintenance once a year, which I was referred to in this context.

It does not seem to be a recurring issue; otherwise, more members would probably have commented on it here in the forum.

I understand this letter as saying "unfortunately, we installed the cheapest junk, which surprisingly is causing problems," and as an attempt to shift the blame onto the owner. It would be proper if your builder covered the inspection costs as part of the warranty. I would also urge you to request this, as it is clear that the recalled part represents a defect that existed already at installation.

The letter refers to faulty installation. In that case, I would pass the responsibility back to the house builder. If there are concerns, they should arrange for an inspection themselves.

In my opinion, this is information intended to encourage you to sign a maintenance contract.

My system has been operating for over 20 years without maintenance. What exactly should wear out in that time?

Considering your story about price increases, it was to be expected that the home builder would look for ways to partly offset their "accommodation" *LOL*.
