Good evening,
We are currently planning to install hardwood flooring in our apartment. We would like to install walnut parquet and have already consulted with some specialist retailers. However, we are somewhat confused because there is parquet in plank format with a 3 mm (1/8 inch) wood thickness priced at 140 euros, and then there is some for 40 euros! We want to buy a good quality product, but is there really a 100 euro difference per square meter?
Are there good quality options available in the 60-70 euro range? It should be oiled parquet.
Maybe someone can help us out.
Many thanks in advance,
Thomas

Hello!
Unfortunately, walnut is one of the most expensive types of wood. Engineered wood flooring in short lengths is still affordable, but wide plank flooring usually isn’t.
As a compromise, we chose engineered wood flooring in short lengths, second grade, for the kids’ rooms at 20 euros/sqm (20 euros/sqm).
Wide plank flooring regularly costs around 140 euros/sqm (140 euros/sqm) and up. Everything we were offered below that price was second grade. Although that was attractive price-wise (40 euros/sqm (40 euros/sqm)), either the quantity was too small, the grading didn’t suit us, or the parquet showed defects. I would therefore consider 70 euros/sqm (70 euros/sqm) too expensive for second grade.
In the end, we went for a different wood species, second grade wide plank flooring for 30 euros/sqm (30 euros/sqm) instead of 130 euros/sqm (130 euros/sqm).
So you really need to be flexible — or wealthy!
Best regards,
TomTom1.
