Hello everyone,
I’m new here and would like to introduce myself briefly: 63 years old from North Rhine-Westphalia and a DIY enthusiast for many, many years, although I have never formally trained in any trade.
Currently, I am wallpapering the rooms in my son’s new build with painter’s fleece... which is a first for me. Now it’s time to do the stairwell, and the installed staircase (see pictures) presents a difficult challenge. The steps are each attached to the wall to be wallpapered with two brackets. The brackets have a diameter of about 15 mm (0.6 inches), and a rosette is placed over them. The steps are about 4 cm (1.6 inches) away from the wall.
My question is, what is the best way to wallpaper this area with the 75 cm (29.5 inches) wide painter’s fleece? I don’t think I can cut the strips in a way that would allow me to wallpaper over three brackets at once.
Does anyone in the forum have a tip for me?
Best regards, Curt

Well, just wallpaper strip by strip and then make a clean cut at the bottom. Attach the new strip under the stairs.
It will be painted afterwards, which helps to somewhat conceal the cuts. However, I would recommend using a textured roller finish or perhaps even liquid wood fiber wallpaper for constructions like this.
