Doc.Schnaggls25 Aug 2014 14:25Hello everyone,
this might be a silly question...
We want to have the look of a natural stone wall behind our soapstone stove.
As an alternative to the "classic" stones for gluing, we have now also discovered a photo wallpaper with a matching appearance.
Are photo wallpapers generally possible or advisable behind a stove?
We are concerned that the radiant heat from the stove might cause damage or discoloration to the photo wallpaper...
Best regards,
Dirk

DerBjoern25 Aug 2014 14:54The technical datasheet for your stove specifies the minimum clearance distance to combustible materials at the back wall. If this is observed, there should generally be no issues. However, it is best to also check with your chimney inspector.

The clearance to combustible materials is clear – our main concern is whether a photo wallpaper might discolor due to radiant heat...

We have a Lotos M3 soapstone stove with fiber fleece behind it. Nothing discolors there. It only gets really hot at the front near the door.
I would have liked to include a photo, but apparently that is not possible via Tapatalk.
