Hello everyone,
I am currently building a house with a general contractor.
The plaster was specified as level Q2. I paid an extra €2000 for Q3 to the tradesperson.
Painting and tiling are being done by myself.

Now I have found several damaged spots on the walls. There are scratches and dents (probably caused by the tradesperson). Sometimes the damage is around outlets or switches. The electrician was not careful when knocking out the flush-mounted boxes.

I spoke with the site manager. He says this is the painter’s responsibility. The painter (in this case, me) should fix these spots.

How was it in your experience? Preferably for both situations: painting as a DIY task and when contracted out.

Thank you for your answers.

At the left edge of the bathroom door, at the level of the outlet, the plaster eventually came off. My building inspector awarded me €30 for it, and my painter then fixed it. That’s how it went.

Dachgeschoss-Rohbau mit schrägem Dachfenster, Bauwerkzeugen und unfertigen Wänden.

It wasn’t that big/serious for me.

Now I think that I (doing the painting myself) need to fix that spot. It’s not big/serious, but there are about 20 spots.

You can buy a one-kilogram (2.2 pounds) pack of Rotband filler at the hardware store for about 5€. Mix it once, then smooth it into the dents with a clean putty knife. You’ll be done in about 30 minutes.
