Hello,
I would like to ask for your experience with wall shelves. We have a timber frame house. The walls are covered with gypsum fiberboard. I want to build a shelf in the pantry myself using furniture-grade panels. Yesterday, I got the boards and also wanted to get the shelves. The simple wall rails available at the hardware store seemed very unstable to me. Which ones have you installed or would you recommend?

Seriously? Build it yourself when there are affordable ready-made systems available? Depending on what you need to store, a heavy-duty shelving unit might be the right choice.

Of course. I need dimensions that are not available for purchase as standard.

Can’t you use Ivar? It doesn’t have to be custom-made.

I would definitely recommend the simple shelving rails from the hardware store 😀
I have them in my pantry as well, and they’re definitely sturdy enough for that. You can also just use a few extra rails if you’re worried it won’t hold.

Otherwise, simply use wooden beams as supports and then attach the shelves to them with metal brackets. If it is a shelf that spans from one wall to the other, you can also use beams running across and secure them with joist hangers.
