Hello everyone, I need the help of this great forum once again and would like to say thank you in advance!

We wanted to preserve an old red brick wall and had it replastered.
Here is a picture of the old wall first:

Construction site on sidewalk in winter: scaffolding, brick wall, snow, mud; yellow excavator on the right.

We painted the replastered wall. However, after one year, paint and partly also plaster are peeling off on a longer section (see the following photos).

Front view of a front yard with concrete wall, strip of grass and paving stones, street in the background.

Cracked concrete wall with grass at the base; building edge in the background.

Beige wall with cracked plaster; at the bottom a pile of gray stones and gravel.

If we repair the damaged sections (plaster) now and then repaint, we will probably have the same problem after next winter. Does anyone have a tip on what we can do here?

THANK YOU!

Best regards
Daniel

What type of plaster or render was used?

Hello Guckuck2!

To be honest, I don’t know... I can only say that the original wall behind the plaster was quite old and had absorbed some moisture from the ground. If this information helps in any way...

Of course, many things could have gone wrong. Damp walls, missing bonding primer, incorrect plaster, or even the wrong paint application.
