Hello,

Scratches on a white wall were repaired and painted over with the original color. The paint was applied over a larger area—not only over the repaired spots but also several centimeters (inches) around them.

Depending on the viewing angle, the color difference of the repainted area is either barely noticeable or clearly visible from several meters (yards) away, showing a difference from "standard white" to "extreme white."

What did I do wrong here?

Best regards

How about posting some photos?
The paint probably hasn’t been smoothed out if you’re talking about just a few centimeters. Smoothing out means spreading the roller over a larger area so that the new coat blends with the old one.

Hello!

We know the situation! Even if it’s white paint, you can definitely see the touched-up area. Our painter also “dabbed” with a large brush. The spots are visible when light hits them.

We have also done repairs ourselves and sometimes only made things worse. I’m planning to repaint the whole wall to avoid seeing any difference.

This is simply due to the different drying times... it can be managed, but under raking light and similar conditions, differences are often still visible... the only real solution is a complete repaint...
