Hello,

I would like to know if I can install a new door in the basement wall (see picture). What do I need to consider? Is the wall load-bearing? There is no other wall above it on the ground floor.

Unfortunately, I can’t tell you if the wall is load-bearing.

What material is the wall made of? Last year, we cut through a non-load-bearing wooden wall with an insulation layer to install a door, and that worked out quite well. However, it always depends on the specific wall.

The wall is likely load-bearing, with two ceiling panels meeting above it. A lintel will be required above the door if one is to be installed there. In the other openings, there appear to be steel beams. I do not see any particular fire protection significance to this wall. Presumably, there is none, as no door (classification) is visible in the existing masonry openings. Nothing should be done without consulting a professional.
