ᐅ Walk-in shower partition: only 118 cm of space available after tiling instead of 120 cm

Hello, we installed a 90x120 cm (35x47 inch) shower tray intended to be used as a walk-in. This means a glass panel will be placed along the long side. Tiling was done only after installation. As a result, we now have only 118 cm (46.5 inches) of space available for the shower panel; otherwise, it would extend beyond the edge. My question is whether the vertical profile allows for a 2 cm (0.8 inch) reduction tolerance? Unfortunately, the offers never mention this. Does anyone have experience with this? Best regards, Steffi33

I am installing my shower on Thursday. It is also a 120cm (47 inches) wide shower. I can take precise measurements then.

Hello Nelly, I would appreciate it if you could measure whether the glass can be slid into the frame up to a total of 118 cm (46.5 inches).

As far as I can tell, nothing has gone wrong; this is quite normal. The shower tray is installed first, and then the tiling is done. This leaves only about 118 cm (46.5 inches) available.

I asked about this at a bathroom showroom today... and yes, the profiles usually compensate for approximately 2 to 3 cm (about 1 inch). That would be helpful for me as well.

Maybe Nelly can confirm this.

Hello again

Why don’t you get the installation dimensions of your partition wall?
The measurements of another product won’t help you here.

I’d like to give a brief update on the original topic. We had ordered a glass shower panel measuring 120 x 200 cm (47 x 79 inches). However, there was only space for 118 cm (46 inches) on the shower tray. The profile that holds the shower panel to the wall had some tolerance, allowing us to fit the panel perfectly to the 118 cm (46 inches) width of the shower. So, everything worked out great and it looks stylish 🙂 Best regards, Steffi33
