ᐅ Walk-in shower partition: only 118 cm of space available after tiling instead of 120 cm

Hello, we installed a 90x120 cm (35x47 inch) shower tray intended to be used as a walk-in. This means a glass panel will be placed along the long side. Tiling was done only after installation. As a result, we now have only 118 cm (46.5 inches) of space available for the shower panel; otherwise, it would extend beyond the edge. My question is whether the vertical profile allows for a 2 cm (0.8 inch) reduction tolerance? Unfortunately, the offers never mention this. Does anyone have experience with this? Best regards, Steffi33

Hello Steffi,

the glazier can certainly bring that along. In our area, several glaziers offer this service. All the ones I’ve asked use accessories from the company Pauli. They also provide the vertical profiles, of course. I assume you mean the "first" profile between the tile and the glass, since there shouldn’t be any other in a walk-in shower. You can find these profiles in the catalog on page 70.

Ah yes... I’m not really a fan of the small brackets... I prefer the kind of rails that run the entire height.. but the glazier will probably be able to provide that as well (though I wonder if it will still be cheaper then :rolleyes 🙂 Best regards, Steffi33.

these rails over the entire height

They are available there as well 🙂

We received a quote for two showers for 1,300 euros + VAT.

Both showers are fully glazed, measuring 1.20 x 1.00 meters (approximately 47 x 39 inches) and 0.90 x 0.90 meters (approximately 35 x 35 inches).

Glaziers and bargains don’t really go together. 😉 However, we also had a few items custom-cut by the glazier in our kitchen because off-the-shelf options simply didn’t exist. It costs more, but the result is something you’re happy with every day, making it worth it.

@TE: If you haven’t placed your order yet, I highly recommend getting a complete quote from a glazier for a precisely fitting wall (or door!?). In my experience, I wouldn’t have had any doubts that they could handle the installation with rails or whatever is needed, as long as they have accurate measurements and photos, or they take the measurements themselves. Installation and coordination should be managed by your plumber and/or architect, or possibly the glazier.

Best regards,

The measurements should be taken by the glazier personally, especially in cases like this where something has already gone wrong.

Who was responsible for the planning, and why exactly are 2 cm (0.8 inches) missing?

To us, it already sounds like a bargain. Our installer wanted several times that price and would have installed something from the Sanibel Series 5001.
