Hello and good day,
we would like to install a glass canopy (3x5 m (10x16 ft)) over our terrace in a multi-family house. The owners living above us are concerned that the rain could be very loud in their bedroom directly above. Has anyone ever measured the noise level of rain inside a room above a canopy? Or can someone provide sources where I can find information about this?
I cannot find any decibel (dB) data online and don’t know what to tell my neighbors regarding this.
Thank you very much in advance

We have a glass roof like that, my son sleeps underneath it. I just asked him how much the noise, for example from rain, bothers him. He says he has never noticed it.Hello Karl,
thank you very much for your comment, it definitely helps me!

I would even go further—I personally love sleeping under our gable roof and hearing the rain tapping on it. You can clearly hear it in our bedroom, and there is nothing better for falling asleep.
But of course, that is a very personal feeling. I would be the last to criticize anyone who worries about noise emissions. 🙂
Hello Kati,
I feel exactly the same! I also used to love it when camping and hearing the rain pouring down...

Try searching for: Relationship between rain noise and sound insulation in lightweight roof elements Thank you very much, Philipp. This is exactly what I was looking for... 🙂
