Hello everyone,
we prefer to use laminate or vinyl flooring throughout the entire house and specifically want to install vinyl in the bathroom. However, at the specialty store, we were advised against vinyl because of the underfloor heating. They said the vinyl would be damaged if the floor temperature exceeds 28°C (82°F). Is that true?
Who of you has vinyl in the bathroom and how did you install it? Floating or glued?
We planned to install it as a floating floor and then seal the edges with silicone joints.
Is that possible?

So, first, we will have vinyl flooring glued everywhere except in the bathroom (due to the walk-in shower).
Second, it doesn’t really matter if the floor covering is more durable, since underfloor heating is normally not set above 28°C (82°F)...

Vinyl flooring in the bathroom is possible; why shouldn't it be, as it’s not a sauna, right? However, in wet rooms, it should be fully glued down and well sealed at the edges. The floor installer should know what they are doing. In Denmark, this is commonly done, and the vinyl is even extended slightly up the wall instead of using a baseboard, with a rounded cove molding.

If I have a craftsman who is better with tiles, I would rather choose tiles than have vinyl that is not waterproof. But that doesn’t matter here, since this was about the temperature – as we don’t live here yet, it’s just theoretical for me, but surely none of you set the bathroom temperature above 28°C (82°F), right...?
