What is your opinion on the potential risks associated with vinyl flooring? For example, concerns about plasticizers and similar substances. We were planning to install this type of flooring in the bedroom and children's room as well. When researching online, there are a wide variety of opinions. Especially consumer tests by organizations like Ökotest don’t give these flooring types a good rating. Isn’t parquet flooring also treated with chemicals during its manufacturing process? What about cork? How do you assess the risks from your perspective, and what would be a "healthier" alternative, if any?

The question is, what can it cost and what is reasonable?

If I can go to a hardware store and get vinyl flooring for 5€ per square meter (5€ per 11 square feet)?

I suggest going to a specialist wood flooring retailer and getting advice there. They usually have a good overview of ecological flooring options.

By the way, nowadays wooden floors are often treated with oil.
Real parquet flooring is probably too expensive.
A standard solid wood floor is affordable today.
However, for large areas, it is usually glued down, so you have to be careful with the adhesive used...

We completely misjudged PVC and pollutant-free vinyl... it seemed very durable but turned out to be quite brittle and is literally crumbling apart. It cost 27 euros per square meter (approx. 2.5 square feet).
That doesn’t seem to be the best option either – it will likely be worn out within 4 or 5 years at the latest.

I would probably lean towards hardwood flooring if the price and appearance are right.

When it comes to what is healthy, simply laying tiles is the way to go, and if you want a cozier feel, then choose wood-look tiles.

Purely for health reasons, cork is probably the best option. However, we also feel comfortable with hardwood flooring...

What brand was that?
