Hello everyone,

Since I am currently looking for a suitable flooring, I am exploring the market. As can be seen from the related thread, a glued vinyl floor has, among other things, a high-quality appearance and better walking and stepping characteristics compared to the click-lock variant.

The downside is that it may not be possible to install it yourself, and due to the difficult removal, it is not very flexible.

Now I came across a self-adhesive underlay that could potentially combine both positive properties.

My question is, is this really the case, or is this option more in the category of "neither here nor there"?

P.S. I am aware that this cannot fully match the properties of a wet-glue installation, but a close approximation would be sufficient for me.

Why can’t this be installed by yourself? You also hang wallpaper yourself on the wall.
That is definitely easier than using a mat like this.

Yes, an ambitious DIY enthusiast can certainly do this themselves. However, the base surface must be practically perfect, which is often a challenge, especially during renovation!

Hello questioner.
This type of installation has proven effective for private residential areas as well as smaller office spaces. It works using a factory-applied dry adhesive, which secures the top side of the roll-shaped insulation underlay to the PVC planks.
The insulation underlay itself is laid loosely on the existing subfloor.
This method works and should not be too challenging for a DIY enthusiast!

@77.willo : That’s not a good idea! It will be uneven, and you should really know what you’re doing when it comes to gluing!

That has never happened to me. I have definitely done it myself three or four times before. I’m also not entirely sure why it should become uneven. Tiles turn out very neat if you put in the effort.
