we are wondering on which side of the door is the best option to install a video doorbell.
I have attached our floor plan of the entrance area.
There is the option to mount it either on the right side of the front door on the protrusion or on the left side next to the door on the wall.
Which option would you say is better?
A simple Ring, Nest, or Eufy doorbell is planned.

If the doorbell is installed at the green mark, shouldn’t it still be able to see someone standing right in front of the door? Most doorbells have a very wide field of view.
Doorbird, Ring, and Eufy definitely offer an angled mount that can be installed in emergency cases.
Right now, we are leaning towards placing the doorbell at the green mark and the mailbox there as well.
Is it okay to install the mailbox at about 1.20–1.25m (4–4.1 feet) from the ground to the top edge, or is that too low?
Our electrician doesn’t want to lay empty conduits outside. His argument is: How am I supposed to seal them properly?

Maybe just mount the camera above the door?
I can’t really understand the depth of the problem. Do people actually use such a high-security system? I’d have to be living in Mexico before I’d install something like that. Instead, I can just see who’s at the door directly if it has a window anyway. But okay – to each their own toy. 😉

I can only recommend testing the final position with a video doorbell – there are reportedly delivery services that may accept mistakenly ordered doorbells as returns. It is also important to test the distances for the camera’s field of view.
