Hello everyone,

the garage is built, and now I have a question about vertical waterproofing at the base. Is it necessary for this garage (see picture)? There will be no backfilling, but paving will be done right up to the garage. On the sides without paving, there will be no soil fill, only gravel at most.

Does this area need waterproofing, and if so, what type? Bitumen primer? Waterproof slurry?

Thank you very much

So,

I have decided to apply waterproofing slurry on it.

What is the correct sequence?

1. Masonry —> waterproofing slurry —> plaster —> paint

2. Masonry —> plaster —> waterproofing slurry —> paint

As a layperson, I can’t really make sense of the guidelines.

Thank you very much

Almost nobody does that; I honestly have never seen it done. No one has been able to explain to me why it would make sense.

In our case, nothing was sealed, and we have had no problems for years.

One sack of slurry for 12,- Some water, a bucket, a brush, one hour of work, so what. It’s even fun.

Well, it certainly doesn’t hurt.
