ᐅ Ventilation System CO₂ Levels [ppm] in Your Rooms

Hello everyone,

to all controlled residential ventilation system owners: Have you ever measured the CO₂ levels in ppm in your ventilated rooms out of curiosity?

According to information online, the values should be below 1000 ppm. About 400 ppm is the fresh outdoor air level. Normally, I have around 600 ppm – 700 ppm when no one is in the room. Of course, this value increases with the number of people present.

What I’ve noticed is that in our bedroom, the level rises above 1000 ppm during the night, which is not ideal. I originally thought that was exactly why I installed a controlled residential ventilation system – to always have fresh air.

So, I would be interested in comparison values from you, if you have any.

Maybe something is wrong with the system.

Are all rooms included in the calculation, or only those with ventilation (supply or exhaust)?

The system is running at 70%, which makes it very loud in the utility room, and the exhaust noise of the system outside is also loud. I’m just wondering if this is normal?

Last night I measured again in the bedroom, and the value was just above 1000 ppm. Is that too high?

Then you will probably need to increase the airflow in the bedroom...

And that is then simply done via the covers of the respective air vents in the room, I assume?!

No, this can be done with a new calibration of the system, where the airflow in the bedroom is increased and reduced elsewhere.

Of course, it is also possible to do it yourself, but you need to know exactly what to adjust.

And I believe that is also the problem. Such a survey has most likely never been carried out properly.

This kind of measurement definitely needs to be done with measuring instruments, where the output is measured to see what is actually coming out.

One more thing: does your mechanical ventilation with heat recovery make such a loud noise, especially in the utility room? Or does the exhaust duct also blow so strongly that it is really loud outside?
