Hello everyone,

I have a quick question.

We are building a timber house with a ventilation system. On the ground floor, we have an exposed ceiling. The paneling is about 20mm (0.8 inches) thick. The ventilation ducts will be installed on top of it.

Is it absolutely necessary to install some type of insulation mat underneath? In some houses, you can see it, in others not. I couldn't find any information about this online?!

Thank you in advance!

It’s the same for us. Unfortunately, you didn’t get an answer—have you perhaps received one for us in the meantime? [emoji4]

Good morning Stefan,

Yes, I have! Basically, it is absolutely no problem that the pipes lie directly on the floor. We do not hear any noise at all. However, if you still have the option to put something underneath, it won’t hurt.

Are you also building a complete wooden house? How is your ceiling constructed? Which screed are you using?

We also have the pipes installed directly on the wooden ceiling. Our ceiling construction consists of drywall (double-layered), insulation, and then the wooden board to which the pipes are attached. These are placed within the insulation, over which the screed is then applied.

We have not had any problems of any kind with this setup.
