Hello everyone!

Our venetian blinds and roller shutters are operated conventionally with a switch.

Now I thought it would be nice to be able to operate some of the venetian blinds and roller shutters ADDITIONALLY by remote control.

Is there a way to retrofit this?

The switch should remain and continue to function normally...

Damn! Seeing this, I realize I should have done all the wiring inside the outlet boxes before the painter plastered over them... I would have had plenty of space ;-(
Hindsight is always 20/20. It’s not really better once it’s plastered in either, because if something breaks, you end up with electronic waste inside the wall. Please take a photo of the switch wiring including the Shelly device—I have two roller shutters where I can’t fit it inside the outlet box.

But it’s definitely cheaper than a smart switch from a Gira or Busch-Jäger series.

I have installed many of the Shelly devices behind the switch. It’s tight but doable... you just have to connect everything neatly, and the cables shouldn’t be too long.

Did you install standard depth electrical boxes or extra deep ones?

I'll put it this way... I didn't order extra deep ones, so I assume they are standard.
If necessary, chisel out a bit at the back.

I ordered a Shelly device. Let’s see how I manage to install it...
For me, they need to be placed behind the switches... and preferably without much chiseling...

Today, I removed a switch. All the necessary cables are there. Unfortunately, as an amateur, I simply don’t have enough space. I will ask my electrician if he’s interested in taking care of it...
