Hello everyone,

Next week, we will continue with the electrical work. A KNX wiring system would be ideal, but unfortunately, it’s no longer within the budget. So, for some added convenience, I have come up with the following combinations for now. “Only” the shutter switches and room temperature controllers for the time being. I’ll share my idea for the light switches later.

Could someone please take a look and see if I’ve missed anything important? I’m not concerned about the “small parts” right now.

Shutter Switches
  • Busch-Jaeger 6411U/S-101 Busch Shutter Control II Insert (Item number: 6410-0-0379)
  • Busch-Jaeger 6455 Comfort Timer Control Panel 6455-101 (Item number: 6410-0-0397)
  • Busch-Jaeger 6435-214 Central Cover Plate (Item number: 6430-0-0402)
For the cover plate, you can of course also use multiple cover plates if more components are added in series. The U/S version is chosen to allow additional options (sun sensor, glass break sensor, etc.), with hardly any price difference. I think with the Comfort Timer Control Panel, this is a good setup.

Room Temperature Controllers

I am still a bit unsure here. What exactly do I need to implement the following controller?
  • Busch-Jaeger 1098 UF-101 Electronic Room Temperature Controller Insert (Item number: 1032-0-0509). This is the version with an external remote sensor. How do I know if this is necessary?
  • Busch-Jaeger 6435-214 Central Cover Plate (Item number: 6430-0-0402)
I assume I will also need the actuators, right?
  • Busch-Jaeger 6164/10-101 Thermoelectric Actuator with Function Indicator 6164/10-101 (Item number: 6164/10-101)
Light Switches
I’m stuck here at the moment. We want to be able to control the light switches remotely as well (on/off). The light switches should also have a dimmer function. So far, I have found the following, which should point in the right direction:
  • IR Control Panel with Label, Illuminated (Item number: 6066-24-102)
Can anyone tell me what else I need to control a standard lamp or an LED lamp?

Thank you all!

Best regards,
Stefan

If anyone has experience with this, I would be interested as well. What do you think a solution like this for heating control (underfloor heating) and the blinds would cost?
Stefan G.3 Jan 2016 16:46
So far, the cheapest store I have found is *elektro2000*elektroundmore*de

Blinds per switch: €150.05
Room temperature controller per switch: €154.57

I will ask my electrician about the components next week. Let’s see how he handles it. We would need 20 blinds switches (€3,001) and 10 room temperature controllers (€1,545.70).

Total: €4,546.70

Light switches will be additional for us. I’m not quite clear on that yet. Hopefully, there’s a professional here on the forum who can help.

And you don’t even have KNX? And you’ve already spent 4500 euros on those two crappy (sorry) components?

Are you 100% sure you’re making the right choice? I’m currently buying a lot of electrical equipment myself (classic but very extensive wiring plus a higher-end switch system), but I would be shocked... there’s quite a bit more to it. Plus the rough installation, which already cost us around 4,000 to 5,000 euros just for materials...

Hello Stefan,

I’m not an expert, but I would guess that for the heating control, in addition to the room thermostat and the electric thermal actuator, you also need a heating actuator.

You won’t get KNX for €4,500 for lighting/blinds/room temperature control.

The basic installation with "standard switches" is already included in our house construction contract. So I would "just" have the switches removed and replaced with the components I mentioned.

Of course, this doesn't replace a KNX system, but I think the functions the switches offer are acceptable. Which higher-end switches did you use? Or better yet, do you know of a system that offers similar functions at a better price?
