Hello community,

I wanted to reach out to you today with my "issue." I am self-employed as a craftsman and transport all my equipment in a van. Of course, everything is packed in boxes and secured with tie-down straps. However, perhaps influenced by the lockdown period, I have developed an interest in organizing. My next project is the van. I would like to install something that allows me to quickly and easily store everything. Does anyone know of any practical solutions or suppliers?

Looking forward to your tips!

Thanks and best regards
Martin

Well, nothing that could really be called "competition" convinced me much 😀

Yeah, who knows when that will really be possible again.....

You might want to look up Songmics; they offer various systems mainly for household use, but I could imagine that some of them would also fit in a van. They are significantly cheaper than Sortimo, but probably not as well specialized for trade professionals.

Ask in a forum with motorhome enthusiasts—they know manufacturers, tips, and tricks. I can’t recommend anything since we don’t need this kind of equipment.

For common cars and vans, the used market also offers a lot! We installed used Alucam modules in our T6. It fit perfectly for us. However, it’s difficult to give specific recommendations because the requirements vary so much (do you need compartments, boxes, drawers, long shelves, etc.?).

Sortimo, Bott, Orsy, and similar brands don’t differ much from each other. They are modular, reusable, and over time surprisingly price-stable.

I am fairly certain that there have recently been legal changes (similar to those currently affecting ladders in commercial use) that have resulted in certain things no longer being permitted. This likely affected the area concerning the connection of transport boxes, shelves, etc. to the vehicle. For commercial use, it may now be the case that used goods are no longer allowed (which is probably exactly why this one has just become available).

I could be mistaken, but I usually keep a rough memory of such matters. So, it’s important to check this before purchasing; otherwise, you might spend money only to have to disassemble everything again afterward. I believe this was published in some magazine (maybe from the Chamber of Commerce?), which most companies are required to receive by mail.
