ᐅ Flush valve seal toilet tank limescale

A surface-mounted toilet cistern was descaled after more than 20 years. The cistern still leaks slightly after descaling, barely visible but easily detected with toilet paper.

The valve seal could not be fully descaled, see photo. Could the remaining limescale be causing the leak?

Which descaling agent should I use to clean the seal without damaging it?
