Hello everyone,
After seeing several discussions about robotic vacuum cleaners in various threads here, we are increasingly convinced that we want to get one of these devices.
The Vorwerk Kobold VR200 and also the VR100 robotic vacuums, which have been mentioned here multiple times, seem quite expensive to me (749 and 599 euros, respectively).
So I went to the website of my trusted online retailer and searched for "robotic vacuum." Then I selected the robotic vacuum cleaner category: 161 results. Prices ranged from around 75 euros to nearly 900 euros.
One model that caught my eye was the Philips FC8820/01 because it reportedly allows you to point the remote control at dirt if something falls on the floor, and it will vacuum it up.
Does anyone have experience with these devices? Can anyone recommend other models?
Do they always only clean the room where you place them, or do they clean the entire floor (assuming the doors are open)?
My requirements:
Thank you very much for your feedback.

My requirements:
- Initially, only one device for the ground floor, possibly another for the upper floor later.
- Living area about 92 m² (990 sq ft) on the ground floor, with the largest room about 55 m² (592 sq ft).
- Charging station (I don’t want to plug the device in manually every time).
- Good cleaning performance.
- Not excessively noisy (even though we are mostly not at home).
- Good price/performance ratio.
Thank you very much for your feedback.
I had the VR200 at home for testing and was convinced. However, due to financial reasons, we ended up buying the one from Miele. It has been running nonstop for four months now and has already been repaired once. It cleans okay, but not as well as the Vorwerk... I don’t know... Maybe someday we’ll treat ourselves to the Vorwerk as well.
Yes, the prices are indeed quite high, especially considering that this alone is not sufficient. If there happens to be any leftover funds or some budget still available (which is usually not the case), such an investment would certainly make sense.

I keep thinking about it... But I still find the prices quite high and I’m not sure if they really deliver. That means, whether they meet my expectations... I don’t know the robot vacuum cleaners; they probably wouldn’t be useful in our case either, unless I got a separate helper for each floor.
But what I can definitely say about the "regular" vacuum cleaners from Vorwerk® is: once you’ve used one, you’ll never want to own a different model again. Even though the initial investment is substantial, it’s worth it. Nowadays, the retail network is so well organized that filters and doors no longer have to be purchased from the manufacturer at (rightly) high prices. I also don’t notice any difference in practical use.
In this respect, without having firsthand experience with robot vacuums, I am convinced that they will be worth every cent as well.

I once used a Vorwerk vacuum cleaner and have now returned to a (rather high-priced) Siemens model, and I see no reason to switch back. It cleans just as well and just as quickly, but the device is lighter. Perhaps one should not praise Vorwerk excessively. On one floor, we have a Roomba robot vacuum that also handles the fine cat hairs in our home very well. You just have to be careful not to run it over cat vomit.
