Hello everyone,
I have been considering using my Kallax shelf as a sideboard for some time now, since I don’t find the traditional sideboard design very suitable for my apartment at the moment. My main question is: Has anyone had experience with converting a Kallax into a sideboard? I am particularly interested in aspects such as stability, the surface area for placing decorations or electronics (e.g., speakers), as well as possible organizational solutions for existing electronics or dishware. I have the standard 4x4 model with the usual dimensions.
I am also curious if there are specific tips or additions that make the Kallax truly practical as a sideboard in everyday use, or if it generally remains more of a compromise. Many thanks in advance for your input!

Regarding the technical devices: I mainly have small active speakers, a router, and occasionally a small hi-fi system. None of the devices are heavy in terms of weight.
That sounds very realistic. I really like the idea of using a wooden board or an additional shelf leveling. I will probably give that a try.
The remaining question is about the cables and possibly the appearance—are there any useful accessories for Kallax for that? Does anyone have any tips?

The maximum surface area is 77cm (30 inches) wide with a depth of 39cm (15 inches), which is quite compact for sideboards.
