Hello,

we are currently planning the construction of a 170m² (1830 ft²) townhouse with a hipped roof and a roof pitch of 30°. Is it even possible to use the attic space considering the roof structure? We would only use it for storage (boxes, furniture, etc.). But if there is a beam approximately every 1m (3 ft), is that actually feasible? The attic will, of course, be insulated, and the insulation still needs to be covered with panels...

Best regards,

Off topic warning:

Whenever I hear "space-saving staircase," I feel uneasy.
We searched for a house for a long time and visited many. When I stood on a house’s space-saving staircase, I felt like I might break my femoral neck (thigh bone) on it. -> no way we're choosing that!
Later, we learned that the family who owned the house had to move out because the woman fell down the stairs and broke her femoral neck.

If anything, there will be a studio or similar up there, and a space-saving staircase is not just a space-saving staircase. There are differences in those as well.

We also had one for years in our previous house and never had any problems.

There is enough space in the hallway downstairs. The staircase will be straight and not too steep. It will also be custom-made by the staircase builder.

As I said: it’s all a matter of planning.

You really don’t have to justify yourself ☺

That wasn’t my intention either, but since your statement was quite general, I just wanted to show you that, with good planning, this can be a nice solution.
