Question for all experienced home builders and professionals
I have a question regarding rainwater harvesting and hope you can help me a bit.
I am building on a plot with an unusually high groundwater level—about 2m (6.5 ft). Discharging rainwater into the sewer is prohibited, so the water must infiltrate into the ground. Ideally, I would like to store the rainwater for irrigation in a cistern, pond, or similar.
My question is whether it is possible to create some kind of combination between a rainwater storage system and an infiltration pit, and what such a system might look like. Can I place an open-bottom cistern below the groundwater level? This way, rainwater would flow into the groundwater while I could pump groundwater and rainwater for irrigation purposes, for example, in the garden.
Thank you in advance for your help, and I wish you all continued enjoyment in your building projects!
