Do I understand this correctly? You have a built-in heating oil tank and want to store diesel in it? How do you get the diesel in there? Chemically it’s certainly not an issue, but the fire load

How does it get in there? And how does it get out again? Is there a dedicated fuel pump, also approved by the technical inspection authority? Why do you want to store it?As far as I know, the regulation allows a maximum of 20 liters (5 gallons) to be stored in the basement. But please don’t ask me where exactly that is stated.
Hello,
first of all, you need to clean it very, very thoroughly. Heating oil is dyed, and this dye still stains intensely even when highly diluted. In other words, it could end up discoloring your diesel.
What are your plans? Are you thinking of taking advantage of the currently low prices and storing diesel for the next 5 years?
Best regards,
Andreas

Currently, the oil heating system is supplied from this tank. The heating system will be removed and replaced with a heat pump. This will leave me with an empty 6000 l (1585 gallons) underground oil tank. A filling station would still need to be installed, which should not be a technical problem.
